Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are used to soften and contour lines, folds and wrinkles. The most commonly used dermal fillers are collagen or hyaluronic acid based. The product is injected into the skin to add volume ad create a more youthful appearance.
There are many different types of dermal fillers on the market but only a few have demonstrated predictable, long term results with minimal side effects and outstanding results.
Restylane and Perlane are the most popular dermal fillers used to contour the face. The product comes in several formulations. The selection of which formulation to use is determined by your skin type and the area to be contoured. The result from the treatment is immediate and will usually last six to nine months.
Restylane is used to pill out or plump up lines on your face that have been created by the loss of elasticity in the skin as you age. By restoring the volume to these areas your skin will look smoother and softer, resulting in a fresher and more youthful appearance.
Areas of use:
- Frown lines between the eyebrows
- Crows Feet
- Nose to mouth lines
- Lines around the lips
- Smile lines on the cheeks
- Lines from the corner of the lips
Restylane is a long lasting treatment however it is not permanent, facial lines and facial shaping follow up treatment is usually needed after 6-12 months. Lip enhancement follow up treatment is usually needed after 6 months.
Some people may experience a slight discomfort when having the treatment, so it is recommended a local anesthetic cream is applied 45 minutes prior to injections.
Immediately after treatment you may experience some redness, slight swelling and or tenderness. Some clients may bruise in the days following the treatment, we recommend arnica cream which can help reduce the bruising.
The lip area may be swollen for a number of days.
