Well, our Pure Aesthetics September Newsletter is here and we look longingly back on the summer. All of the promises we made to ourselves to get fit and look after ourselves during the lockdown so that we could emerge as butterflies. Did that happen? Did it heck!
Whilst we slowly creep back outside from our slumber and reflect on what has been a bit of a disaster of a year, we can make a pact to take more care of ourselves. Instead of waiting until the end of November to think about getting Christmas ready we could start now! Who’s with me? Whether it’s eating healthier, drinking more water, exercising more or looking after our skin, we could make one small change that could have big results by Christmas.
Mine is to eat healthier and drink more water in the hope that my skin will thank me. What’s yours. Let us know what your pact is and how you are getting on.
We’ve Got Sole
One of the things I did whilst on lockdown was to treat my feet. Shlepping in flip flops all day certainly takes its toll on them. I bought foot peel from our website https://pureaesthetics.co.uk/product/foot-peel-foot-mask/. Being a bit of a sceptic, I didn’t hold out much hope that they could work on my Gruffalo feet. I put the little socks on and a friend told me to wear a pair of socks over the top whilst they did their thing. After keeping them on for the required time, I peeled them off and was quite pleased that my feet appeared to be soft. The pack said it would take about 7 days for skin to start to come off my feet. I forgot about it and then about a week later I looked at my feet and nothing appeared to be happening. Disappointing!
Day 8 came and went. Day 9. Nothing. Day 10. OMG! I got out of bed and went to make a coffee. It was only on the way back to bed with my hot beverage that I noticed the skin debris on my new wool carpet. It was like the carpet was velcro! I looked at my feet and to be fair they looked grim but I could see the shoots of new skin underneath.
It took a few days for all of the old skin to come off and the results were astonishing. I had baby soft skin like I havent seen since I was a kid. I would thoroughly recommend them. The only word of caution is to pick a time when you know that you are not going to be showing off your feet in strappy sandals. Autumn is fab to give them a go. You might also have to vacuum a bit more often but I think it is well worth the sacrifice.
C Section Scarring Hope
Nothing can take away the joy of children but for some who give birth by way of C Section that experience can be marred by the discomfort, pain and anguish of post birth scarring. Not only do women bear the physical scarring but they can also be scarred emotionally from it. The wound can on occasion be quite unsightly which in turn can cause immense psychological symptoms.
According to the NHS statistics, 1 in 4 women in the UK give birth by way of C Section. There can be a whole host of reasons as to why this is. Scarring can occur for many reasons but for some women they can suffer for years with the pain and discomfort associated with it.
Dr Ruri D Pamela MD wrote a paper in September 2019 that looked at using CO2 Fractional laser with Calecim Professional Serum. The patients received a series of CO2 laser treatments along with application of Calecim Professional Serum twice daily. After following this 12 week regime the patients’ scarring showed significant improvement.
Calecim Professional uses Umbilical cord lining conditioned media. This has proved to be effective in the treatment of difficult to heal skin wounds. We stock the Calecim range on our website. Follow the link https://pureaesthetics.co.uk/product/calecim-professional-serum/
